Pipe Replacement

In November of 2023, we replaced 450 feet of 6-inch pipe from Snowflake Drive to Del Rio Drive, which is part of our pumping line from the Treatment Plant to Tank 6.

Fire Hydrants

Over the Winter, we had 2 hydrants damaged, one by a tree, and the other by a vehicle. Both hydrants will be repaired this Summer.

Tank Cleaning

Our 750,000-gallon tank located off of El Ranchero Drive is in need of repair and cleaning. The repair consists of coating the tank floor and fittings and re-attaching the guide wires to the floor for the level gauge float. To accomplish these repairs, the tank must go offline and be drained. Currently, we’ve been working on setting up temporary tanks and piping. We will hold off on this project until after Labor Day weekend because of Blue Lake Springs water usage through the Summer months.

Meter Box Replacement

After the 4th of July, we will begin the replacement of 150 feet of 2-inch main and 7 meter boxes, located at Boro Court off of Greensboro Way. We anticipate being finished by the end of July. After the new meter boxes are installed, the Shareholders on Boro Court will have 6 months to connect to their prospective meter boxes.

Lead Service Line Inventory

The Environmental Protection Agency and our State Water Resource Control Board are requiring we take an inventory on service line material to ensure there are no lead pipes in the water system.

To do so, the EPA and Control Board are requiring we expose and photograph service lines just after the meter box and identify the pipe material at the nearest hose bib, on all homes built before January 1, 1986.

Our staff will be conducting this work throughout the Summer and Fall. The staff will have shirts, trucks, and cards identifying that they are with the Blue Lake Springs Mutual Water Company. In addition, Shareholders will soon receive notification by postcard about this project. For more information regarding the Lead Service Line inventory that we are required to conduct, you can go to our website at www.blsmwc.com, or scan the QR code on your postcard for more information. You can also call our office Mondays through Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and we’ll be happy to answer any questions that you have.
