President’s Report May 2022

Shareholders:

The BLSMWC and its Board of Directors was greatly saddened by the passing of Bob Maginnis, Former President of BLSMWC Board. Bob was elected to the board in 2006 and served as President from 2013 to 2021. He was one of the main reasons I ran (and continued to run) for the Board as I was so impressed at his presence, integrity, and vision for the Water Company. He led the Water Company through some very challenging times as it searched for water, made the agreement with Calaveras County Water District to purchase water, and through the design and construction of the Water Distribution System project that was completed in 2020. Bob created the Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) as he recognized that the BLSMWC needed a long term plan for water sources, planning for improvements, financing, etc. Bob appointed Tom Schneider as the chair of this committee and with this foresight, great accomplishments were made. Bob stood behind every decision made by the Board and the BLSMWC employees. He was one of a kind and treated everybody with respect and dignity. When asked how he was doing, he would respond with “Every Day is a Bonus”. Those are words to live by. I will miss him immensely.

The Board met on May 14, 2022 via zoom and in-person. The Board approved an updated version of the Rules and Regulations for New Service Connection, a new Statement of Investment Policy, and a new Purchasing Authority Policy. The LRPC is undergoing a reorganization as is described under the LRPC section of the Bubbler.

Please vote for the members running for the Board of Directors. By now you have received an envelope and the ballot along with information regarding the people running for the board, as well as information regarding the annual meeting. The ballot is for voting, and please remember, for your vote to be counted, you MUST return your SIGNED proxy card. PLEASE VOTE!

Our annual meeting will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 10 a.m. at our office. You can also attend via zoom.

Lastly, the weather is warming up so please remember to continue to conserve water. There are many  suggestions on how to conserve water for indoor, outdoor, and irrigation use under the “Tips” portion of the website.
